It focuses on the legal and regulatory topics Indiana PEs are expected to understand, including the definition of the practice of engineering, who may practice or offer engineering services, business and LLC practice requirements, exemptions, use of the professional engineer seal, responsible charge, professional conduct rules, renewal requirements, continuing education documentation, and audit-related recordkeeping.
The course is designed to help engineers connect statutory language to everyday professional practice, including sealing documents, supervising engineering work, evaluating when PE responsibility is required, and understanding the continuing education rules that apply to Indiana license renewal.

Indiana professional engineers are required to complete 30 hours of continuing education during each biennium. Indiana’s rule also requires at least 1 hour in ethics applicable to the practice of professional engineering and at least 1 hour in Indiana statutes and rules applicable to the practice of professional engineering.

After completing the course and passing the quiz, learners receive a certificate of completion showing the course title, learner name, completion date, provider, and continuing education credit earned. The certificate should be retained with the learner’s professional license renewal records.
